i always got mixed up about what this was supposed to symbolize. so if the sun is shining then he has a shadow and therefore since the sun is shining we get six more weeks of winter??? that seems a little backwards

I sure don't mind getting 6 more weeks of winter here in FL. Big Grin

I can never remember what seeing/not seeing his shadow means. I know I'm ready for spring by the time February 2 rolls around.

Here in east siberia, it usually means six more months of winter.

I LOVE groundhog day.
To the point where i make a big deal of it and the other teachers think i'm a cog off.

Our kids are off tomorrow for a staff development/parent teacher day..but
today I told one teacher

Tomorrow is Feb. 2.
Feb 2 is GROUNDHOG DAY
There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow
COINCIDENCE...I THINK NOT.

Our winter has been extremely mild. That's one thing I LOVE about living at a generally low elevation in the South Smile

I don't really care about the spring/winter thing honestly, but mobile version won't let me vote so I may have to do that tomorrow. Some snow may be nice so I can get out of going to a few classes Big Grin But nice weather would be fine with me as well.

Looks like he "saw" his shadow this morning according to the "Inner Circle" of guys that determined if he would see it in the first place. (No joke, that's what they said on the news today!) Tongue

I guess I'll have to drudge through 6 more weeks of terribly aweful 70 degree sunny Florida winter weather until Spring. Rolleyes

My daughter wore a tank top to school today. Winter hasn't found FL.

This has got to be one of the wierder of American traditions.

I'm still terribly confused. So.... he saw his shadow and that means we'll have 6 more weeks of winter?

Who starts these traditions anyway?
