RE: Fundybook - pastor's wife - 01-16-2011 09:00 PM @exIFB, that kind of hatred is just nasty. Ick. I've got to go listen to some uplifting CCM to get his wrathful obscenity and twisting of Scripture out of my mind. What's worse is they believe that kind of behavior is what Christians should act like; they don't realize the damage is causes toward people who aren't Christian, how much more likely it is to turn people away from Christ, rather than toward him. People like that act as a deterrent to Christianity; and Satan is sitting back in hell, laughing at all of it because it suits him just fine.

Romans 2:4 says, "God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance" not His wrath or His anger but His kindness! And 1 John says they will know we are Christians by our love, not by our self-righteous rants against others with whom we disagree. RE: Fundybook - Jenn - 01-16-2011 11:33 PM That Sean Payne looks dangerous. I visited his website. He tells the classic "poop in the brownies" tale. http://godkillspeople.com/?cat=37 Oh, how clever. RE: Fundybook - Jordan M. Poss - 01-18-2011 02:51 PM A few weeks ago I linked to SFL's comments war on the Baptist Flag, a war initiated by some Fundy troll jumping in with the usual argument by assertion that Baptists aren't Protestants, they aren't because they aren't, and haven't been, and still aren't. I linked to this war on Facebook and said only, "Baptists are Protestant. Deal with it." I had a few "likes" and one interesting response. An older fellow from the church I grew up in, a man who has been on Facebook for some time now but has never shown interest in friending me, not only friended me but sent a very nice private message repeating the same argument by assertion. Baptists aren't Protestant, because they were never part of the Catholic Church, et cetera ad nauseum. I deleted it. Sometimes arguing just isn't worth it. But then I found he gave me a nice public shout-out, something I've never done to someone I disagree with on Facebook. And, again, we see the argument by assertion, plus a little bonus from "Karen." I do like the comments from "John," though. I finally decided not to respond, but if I had, it would have looked something like, "I'd be much more amenable to serious discussion if you could at least spell my name right." |
