1) They are not. Sin is a condition in the heart of man. It does not live in inanimate objects. (See Bible verses below)

2) If the above quote was true, does this mean blind people are less sinful because their "windows" are closed?

3) The author's full name is Saint John Bosco. He was a Catholic Priest who was canonized in 1934. Since when are fundies quoting Catholic saints? I just found this fact amusing, since Catholic-bashing is a popular fundy sport.

4) Also interesting is how they abbreviated his name...probably to avoid the "appearance of eeeevil". Rolleyes

Great answers, especially the Scripture!

I'm surprised the fundy poster didn't grow up singing, "Oh, be careful". There were a WHOLE lot more verses than just "Oh, be careful little EYES!"

I endured that fear-inspired song, so I know they did too....go figure.

This may be less Fundybook than CharismaticBook. A friend of mine has posted that he is under attack from Satan today because of what God is doing in the world through him.

Call me crazy...but is he really that important? In a world with genocides, famines, poverty....is this guy who doesn't even have an actual job that important?

And that question is predicated on believing that the devil "attacks" people in the way these people believe. And I'm not sure that is the case anyway.

Wazzat? Wear a cloak and sandals, speak Aramaic, and roam around with 12 dudes who all left their job, saying stuff to get yourself killed?

You really want your fellow church members to act like that?

ROFL. I had to laugh. When a friend posted this, I had almost the same response. Is it too much to ask that a "think" filter be added to the "Post" button on facebook. Smile

When I say that I want to look like Jesus, I mean that metaphorically. But since he specifies "dress like him", the poster is getting super specific. Were I to do so I would be wearing "that which pertaineth to a man". I'm sure the poster wouldn't want that either.

Posted by a young fundy friend:

"Lord Help us to not be fools and date all these different people cause all it does is spread drama, people lose friends, rumors and heart ache in the end. Help people to relize that you are the only one that will confort them in the hard times and you are the only one that we need at this age. In Jesus name amen."

With two comments below it:

"Yes, a waist of time, energy, and cash. The Lord has a young woman already designated for you. He will reveal her in His timing. This is why believers should only date the one the Lord has chosen for them."

And

"Amen! Dating IS a waste of time....just wait on the perfect woman God has planned to be your wife! He has GREAT things planned for you!"

Am I the only one who experiences a small wave of nausea whenever anyone posts prayer as a facebook status?

No. Here I am passing you a stick of spearmint gum. Feel better yet? Smile

Thanks, but you better send me a whole pack. A friend who I have not yet had the heart to block does it three or four times a week, lately. He has taken to not posting news about his life or his family, but rather posting prayers that include his news. Which also bugs me. If God is omniscient, he does not need told these details so explicitly.

No wonder we were so stressed and have so many issues. With raging hormones, you have to be certain that the person your body is telling you is INCREDIBLE is not just what you want, but what God's best and perfect plan for your life. Couple that with the concept that if you screw it up, your stuck for the rest of your life with something less than God's best. Yeah, no wonder we were so messed up.
