"look at them yo-yos, thats the way you do it, screaming the gospel from the KJV" I struggle to find the line where sarcasm becomes blasphemy. Then I usually take a step over the line. RE: Fundybook - senda wales - 08-01-2011 03:25 PM "Enjoying the A's game with good godly friends from church!" Right... you forgot the whole being SURROUNDED by hundreds of drunk baseball fans... A comment in a thread about biking: girl i bike to grandmas and twice around the lake!!! dont worry i close my eyes when i see the half naked men. lol Please don't close your eyes while biking. Please. Your safety is more important than guarding against shirtless men. "A Girl's heart should be so lost in God, that a man has to seek God to find her." and 18 Likes I don't even know what to say. Senda, the above statements are why I left Fundy land. Somehow, when the preachers were red-faced and screaming I was rarely influenced. In fact, they repulsed me to a point that I mentally checked out EVERY time I "had to listen" in chapel or wherever. But, the quotes above, those were the types of phrases that would pierce me to the core. Because we were told that our whole testimony was available for critique and that if anyone were to question anything we did and "were led astray" because we were not surrounded by godly friends at a baseball game or we didn't close our eyes when we saw shirtless men; those were the times when I started to question my common sense and think maybe they (the fundies)were right and I was wrong. This is such a good reminder of the day that I realized that it only matters what God thinks. Thank you. RE: Fundybook - senda wales - 08-02-2011 01:48 PM You're welcome for posting triggering material Presbygirl But I know what you mean. This is why staying friends with fundies can be difficult - all of these subtle little statements about who or what is or isn't acceptable. For whatever reason, sermons stay quarantined to the service in which it is preached, but a conversation with a friend sticks with you.

I forgot about that one. It was quite popular on girls' Facebooks at SBTS. The first time it was a male fundy friend giving it as advice for some heartbreak I was going through. RE: Fundybook - Elijah Craig - 08-02-2011 04:25 PM In my experience it's used by girls who haven't had a boyfriend in years if ever. Rather than look at themselves and make improvements, they like quotes like that because they get to claim they're hiding in God and the ungodly guys just can't find them. And of course this justifies treating guys like dog crap because the guys obviously aren't spiritual based on... whatever random set of criteria they chose. |
