I just know it hasn't bothered me in years. The Catholics are pretty laid back about the end times. We believe in the Second Coming but that's about it.
Some also think it may have been 616. I guess if you want to be properly superstitious you must avoid all three variants or to follow the principle of separation you should avoid all numbers between 599 and 700.
Well, in the Bible it does say "six hundred, three score, and six"... A "score" is twenty, so "three score" is sixty. So it would add up to 666

I wanted to resurrect this thread for this post:
Amen, Bro xxxxxx! Many want to use today's modern culture as their yardstick and not the Bible to measure with. In our dress, we should look as nice and modest as possible in church because it is a special place, not to be seen or "shame those who have not" materially. Those who ministered in the Bible looked more special and Holy, as they should. Modest outside the church is only natural as well. Some folks don't know any better and some don't WANT to know because they abhor instruction finding it "goes against their selfish will", plain and simple (aka rebellion). Music is a whole other story but the same principles apply in kind. I find that the Holy Spirit within me does not "bear witness" to new Bible "perversions" (or music) because it changes the specialness and severity of meaning, putting it into "street talk" as it is read vs. our 400 yr old KJB. Many walls of the "Faith of our Fathers" have been breached by those who want to build walls WITHIN between the young and the wiser, older Saints. You can almost hear their spirit scream, "I WANT MY MTV MUSIC". CCM and new Bibles are not bringing us together as "the" church, they are tearing us apart. How can that ever be in God's Will for his children??? Stick with the "old paths" and "remove not the landmark which our fathers have set", Bro Cccccc! AMEN & GLORY TO GOD!

I really want to be there when this guy is told that the New Testament was first written in the "street talk" of it's day (Koine Greek) instead of the more refined KJV language of the day (Attic Greek, I think).
