Fundy street cred: I was born and raised in a Fundy environment that was, fortunately, chased with a healthy dose of common sense by my parents and family. I attended small, private Fundy Christian schools from kindergarten through high school and went on to spend five years at Bob Jones University (the fifth year was my own stupid fault, not zeal). Fortunately, the common sense inherited from and strengthened by my parents and my love of history presented me with both the newness of Fundamentalism and the utter untruth of many of its historical claims. When St. Thomas Aquinas called history "the handmaid of theology," he could have been talking about my own story.
That's the ultrashort version of my life. As for who I am, I hold an MA in European History from Clemson University, where I specialized in medieval military history (even more specifically, combat in late Anglo-Saxon England). I love history, literature, poetry, writing, cinema, linguistics, philosophy, and working out. |
