Announcing A World Vision Giveaway

The World Vision Bloggers are leaving for Sri Lanka one week from today!

To celebrate this coming journey, we’re doing something that has only happened on SFL one other time in four years: having a little contest/giveaway. We’ve put together four identical prize packages, a collection ofΒ  books, music, and World Vision apparel. To each of those four prize packs we will add something from Sri Lanka, a unique prize made by the people of Sri Lanka.

Our hope and prayer is that you’ll follow our journey, find hope and inspiration in the stories we share, and perhaps be moved to join the story by sponsoring a child from Sri Lanka through World Vision.

This is what each of the four winners will receive:

-A copy of World Vision’s Faith in Action Study Bible
-A copy of The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns, World Vision’s president
-An autographed copy of Love Story: The Hand That Holds Us from the Cradle to the Grave by Nichole Nordeman
-A copy of Praying for Strangers: An Adventure of the Human Spirit by River Jordan
-A copy of Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life by Nick Vujicic

  1. Holy cow, you’re giving away prizes now? *Sniff, momma’s boy is all grown up. Today, you are a REAL blogger πŸ˜‰

    1. Well, World Vision and some associated folks are the ones giving away the prizes. I am merely the humble messenger. πŸ™‚

  2. I have read “One Thousand Gifts” ! Read it about a month ago.

It is amazing! Emotionally engaging and challenging.

Haven’t read “The Hole in our Gospel” but have heard great things about it!!

    1. The “Hole in our Gospel” sounded interesting to me so I went to Amazon to check out the reviews. It was rated very highly but I thought I would read the 1-star reviews (about 10 out of 455 reviews). They all read like a fundy playbook:

The book is nothing but a social gospel.
We need to save people first then all their problems will go away.
      He is misinterpreting Bible verses.
      Etc. etc. etc. etc.

Makes me think if fundys are against it, it must be a good thing. I will probably buy or download it myself. I am not on Facebook so I can’t enter this contest.

      1. I’m not on FB either.

And yes, I’m with you and Big Gary, if the Fundys think it’s all social gospel and don’t like it, then it must be a GREAT book! πŸ™‚

    1. Whaaaaat???? Canadians can’t enter???? I just did!!!! I hope I can win anyway… Ann Voskamp lives in a community not too far from me. Have yet to hear her speak in person, but have read some of her writing and she’s good!

      1. It’s “Hollywood Houswife” not “Housewives” LOL. That’s the name of the blog of one of the ladies who is going on the trip.

        1. Got it! My bad! πŸ™‚

And now I guess I have to come out of the closet to some extent because up until now I hadn’t “liked” the SFL page on facebook.

What I’ll do for a chance at some free books/music! lol

  3. I hope I did it right; I liked all eight pages of Rafflecopter. Here’s hoping for a win! 😎

  4. Oooh I’ve seen Nick Vujicic! He did the intro for the Never Quit 5K this year! Amazing.

    1. We hope you’re enjoying Episode Two of β€œRanting and Raving with Irascible Rednecks.”

    1. For good clean fun, nothing beats hating on Muslims, Arabs, and other people we know next to nothing about. It reminds me of all those things people say right after they say “I’m not a racist, but …”

    2. Do you think they paid a licensing fee for using the Spider Man song and costume there?

  5. When my daughter was little she won a plush Barbie (the kind she could sleep with) in a Nickelodeon contest.

That has nothing to do with anything except to pass along that ‘real’ people do win these things. πŸ˜€

    1. I won a boomerang at a sporting goods store grand opening when I was in about 5th or 6th grade. When we moved a few years later, I tried to throw it away but………………..I just couldn’t do it.

  6. My apologizes to all the Canucks (and other furrin types) who can’t enter the giveaway.

I’m given to understand that World Vision Canada has its own social media presence, which is one of the reasons why this giveaway is limited to the US.

    1. It’s OK Darrell, as Say-Tay Townsend would say outside of a Chick-Fil-A in August, the Canadians all hate the word of God anyway.

  7. Books look great! Wow how long has it been since I’ve had an actual CD! Lol
Thanks for passing this along Darrell πŸ˜›
