What I don’t get is, besides the name, what about this flag or these pledges is exclusively Baptist? I received Believer’s Baptism by immersion. I believe the Bible is the Word of God, in every way superior to the traditions of men. I believe that remission of sins is only through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, shed for you and for me, the perfect sacrifice of Lamb of God, without blemish and without spot. I believe that Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. I am looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. I believe in the Faith once delivered unto the Saints. I don’t find the phrase “the tie that binds” in the Bible, but if you mean “the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” Phil 4:3, “Christian love” as mentioned in the hymn “Blest Be the Tie that Binds”, or sound doctrine, I pledge to remain faithful to all three.

The second pledge is to the Baptist Flag, and to the Doctrine for which it stands, but doesn’t specify which uniquely Baptist Doctrine it’s referring to. I, too, earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints Jude 1:3, and believe in One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. Eph 4:5 Does accepting all these things make me a Baptist? What is uniquely Baptist about any of this?

How long should the pledge be? Well, if you need a pledge to distinguish yourselves from every teaching that is not Baptist, I would expect it to be at least as long as the Nicene Creed.

p’shaw, the Catholics and their Apostolic Succession to Peter is nothing compared to Baptist Ancestry.

When I first read the title of this post, I misread it to leave out the “L” in flag! Mis-read the title as Baptist Fag Thought to myself, WHAT is Darryl up to now?

I have been a baptist all my life but more and more I try not to let folks know so they don’t look at me that way. I hope to find a cure some day, but with the baptist family tree going back to the 1st Baptist Church of Jerusalem… I’m begining to think it’s a genetic defect I’ll just have to life with.

I got ahold of the trail of blood many years ago and tried to really study it out about 3 different times and could never make sense of it.

So my question, when did the Baptists really start and who was the founder?
